Hunger That Challenges Us - Brother Lucky Adike

By Blessing Mbang

The Washington DC congregation was blessed to have in our midst a wonderful young man whose hunger in seeking the Lord challenged all us.  Brother Lucky Adike arrived in the United States in the summer of 2006 as a student at Howard University.  Unbeknown to him, God had also placed a saved young lady at the same school.  She gave Brother Lucky an invitation to church and he accepted.  Sunday to Sunday the word penetrated and eventually Brother Lucky asked God for forgiveness and was beautifully saved, sanctified and baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Following his new birth, Brother Lucky displayed the spirit of Peter.  He was full of a desire to know God and proved His Words in his personal life.  Brother Lucky became a member of the church choir. He faithfully attended weekday services and outreach meetings at our new fellowship centers (Reston, VA and Baltimore, MA).  At every opportunity Lucky seized the moment to testify of God’s faithfulness in his spiritual growth and educational pursuit.

And the Lord was faithful to Brother Lucky.  As he sought God deeper and was diligent in his studies, the Lord provided him with scholarships and internships.  After graduation and multiple summer internships, Microsoft hired him to work in their Seattle office and Brother Lucky relocated this past summer.  Since Brother Lucky has spent the past three summers in Seattle and worshipped with our saints there, he’s already right at home in that church family.

We miss Brother Lucky terribly, especially his steadfast hunger for God that challenged us all to be better Christians.  Our love and prayers go with Him.  We pray that God will raise many young people, like Brother Lucky, to Himself.
