Washington, DC Announces New Youth Leader

The Youth Department of the Apostolic Faith Church, Washington DC recently witnessed a significant change: the baton of leadership was passed from Brother Demetrius McElveen to Sister Blessing Mbang (read her testimony below). On Sunday, September 20th 2009, Pastor Josephine McElveen met with members of the Youth Council, ministers, and a large gathering of young people to introduce Sister Blessing Mbang as the new youth leader. Before the Pastor's announcement the youths were told, "This plan has been both in our hearts and prayers for a long time, and we believe this is the moment to appoint someone in this capacity."

"This person is in your midst, she has been with you since her childhood and has been faithfully serving the Lord," the Pastor further added. As the announcement was made, both the outgoing youth leader Brother Demetrius McElveen and the Pastor stood by Sister Blessing and presented her to the group.

As Sister Blessing stood before the young crowd, the spirit of unity was evident in everyone's smile and in the shared moment of jubilation. Words of encouragement and admonition were also given by the outgoing youth leader, Bro Demetrius McElveen, the assistant Pastor, Bro. Ayo Mobolurin, Bro. Ebenezer Nettey and Bro. Peter McPhun. The young people further demonstrated their support to the new Youth Leader by receiving her with warm and heartfelt embraces. We will all be praying for Sister Blessing and her husband as they continue to labor for the Lord and take on the unique responsibility of leading the young people.
